Description:

This application provides a calculation tool for estimating the maximum span of various elements such as beams, joists, etc., with a symmetric cross-section. The tool requires inputs including height, width, point dead load applied at the center, dead distributed load, point live load applied at the center, live distributed load, maximum stress, modulus of elasticity, live load deflection limit (fraction of span), and total load deflection limit (fraction of span). Most of these inputs can be conveniently entered through picker views.

The default operating units are in U.S. units with an option to switch to metric units. Although the picker views always display in imperial, values can be entered in metric units if the app is set to metric. Additionally, users can choose between a light or dark appearance for the interface.

It is important to note that this application is based on several assumptions and approximations. It omits various critical factors that should be considered in construction calculations, such as neglecting shear forces.

Further enhancements and features are expected to be introduced in future updates to the application.
